 JOB RESPONSIBILIES (not limited to):

  • Serves as subject matter expert for all leave, WC, and UI programs, in alignment and under the general guidance of HR and legal department leadership
  • Interprets and administers leave and worker’s compensation programs and policies according to all applicable federal and state employment laws, including when overlap occurs
  • Partners closely with HR leadership on all cases/claims, meeting regularly to review status and develop timely, legally-sound, and mutually-beneficial resolution strategies, particularly in the case of lost wage
  • Assessing need for leave, determining appropriate leave type, and making recommendations
  • Determining qualification for leave and/or accommodation by reviewing and processing medical certifications, contacting Providers for clarification as needed
  • Working closely with employees, operational teams, and payroll personnel to ensure communication and follow up is timely and relevant throughout leave, maintaining appropriate contact throughout and coordinating return to work details
  • Tracking hours used, working closely with operational teams, Payroll, and Benefits to ensure accurate application of pay, PTO, Short-Term Disability (STD), benefit premium payment, etc.
  • Organizing and ensuring all required/necessary medical documentation is received timely and stored in alignment with MIMG confidentiality requirements
  • Ensuring worker’s compensation claims are submitted to carriers within 24 hours of incident
  • Coordinating investigations with worker’s compensation carriers as needed
  • Completing and delivering letters as appropriate (approval, denial, extension, final notice, separation, etc.)
  • Liaison between Monarch, WC insurance provider/agents, and claimants

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: (unless otherwise indicated):

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, business administration, or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience working in Human Resources
  • 2+ years’ experience managing leave cases (FMLA, general medical, ADA, STD) and worker’s compensation claims
  • 2+ years’ experience handling employee relations cases
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of HIPAA guidelines, OSHA and Workers’ Compensation regulations, ADA, and similar state regulatory requirements and updates
